VDO with Custom Kernel(27 Aug 2018)
VDO itself is available as a pre-packaged RPM via yum repositories for CentOS 7.5 and is prepared for 3.10 kernels specifically. I don't know of any way to make those RPMs compatible with my 4.x kernels, so I chose the build-from-source route.

As the Linux-bound industry progresses, I believe that gradually there will be larger gaps between the popular and unpopular Linux distributions in all types of businesses that use Linux. RHEL still makes a very valid case for both enterprise and startup consumption...don't overlook the free features of RHEL for your development projects!
