  • IT in the Cloud Era: You Have Nothing to Lose but Your Chains

    (11 Oct 2018)
It’s probably Google’s fault that my experience around accessing information and data has shifted from “I’ll have to wait until I get home” to “As long as it takes to open this app.” I’ve become accustomed to a certain standard of living. We can and should leverage these same benefits in our business operations. DevOps for business is here.

  • Aqua on OpenShift - Level-Up Your Container Security Game - Part I

    (26 Apr 2018)
As container technology becomes prevalent in organizations, teams begin to move faster, applications are deployed quicker, and there is the inevitable question that arises around security posture of the container contents. Container technology has enabled developers and operations teams to gain rapid feedback and insight into application health, and security should not be excluded from this capability. This blog article covers the first of two methods to help include application security scanning in the development pipeline so that vulnerabilities don't make it into production.

  • Understand Containers - For VM Makers

    (27 Feb 2018)
There are things to do differently and there are different ways to think about how resources get provisioned for applications and services. I had to undergo re-shaping how I think about containers, because I grew up in the time of VMs.

  • Kicking into Fifth Gear pt2

    (03 Oct 2017)
This is where my twitch began to calm, as I was able to get closer to the inner-workings of what made Linux shine for enterprise applications. It wasn't easy at first, but though some coaching and networking with colleagues, much of the work wasn't always work to me.
  • Kicking into Fifth Gear pt1

    (18 Sep 2017)
Having finished education in a completely different field of work and feeling confident of that career path, I did notice a slight twitch in my hands. I was watching as my backup plan to work in I.T. was moving out of reach if I didn't do something soon.

You can read the presentation description here on our events page. Yes, It was a lot of content to present in an hour but the demo God's were nice and everything worked as designed.
  • YES! Ansible can automate all, including Microsoft Windows Server

    (16 Mar 2017)
One of the things that we’ve seen gain a lot of traction is native support for Windows inside the Ansible platform. It is hard to find a homogenous IT stack nowadays. For example, you may have a Linux server farm but with Active Directory proving its identity. Your management tools needs to be able to handle Linux, Unix, cloud services and.. Windows

  • OpenShift on Azure... Eh ?

    (05 Dec 2016)
There have been a few options over the past year or so but those offerings looked much more like a traditional managed service offering than a real 'Cloud' IMHO. Personally I always felt that Amazon EC2 would be the first to open their doors to Canadians but Microsoft beat them across the boarder.
  • It's time to build an application pipeline... OpenShift 3.3 integrated Jenkins pipeline demo"

    (07 Nov 2016)
Everyone wants to achieve better code promotion automation, which is generally referred to as 'being agile' and moving to 'Continuous Deployment, Delivery, and Integration'. I know from experience this was very difficult in the world of virtual machines and bare metal servers, but thanks to container orchestration technologies you will see (in the video below) that times have changed and it’s not so hard anymore.
